The catch with free VPNs, and why there isn't one here
Every free VPN is paid for somehow. Many do it by logging where you go and selling the history. We pay for AetherShield with ads inside the app and an optional subscription. Your traffic is never part of the deal.
- The proxy's access log is switched off at the server. It isn't filtered or rotated. It is never written.
- Your connection history stays on your phone. The app's log lives in local storage and is never uploaded.
- There is no account. We never ask who you are, so there's nothing to link a session to.

Is AetherShield really free?
Yes. The free plan needs no card and no account. It's paid for by ads shown inside the app, never injected into your traffic, and by people who choose Premium.
Do you keep logs of what I do?
No. The proxy's access log is switched off on the server, so there's no record of which addresses you reached. We keep an anonymous install identifier, crash reports, anonymous app usage statistics and whether a subscription is active. The privacy policy sets it all out.
What happens when my free session ends?
The tunnel closes and you can reconnect straight away for another 2 hours. If you'd rather not be interrupted, watch one ad to add 2 hours, up to 8 hours ahead. Premium removes the timer.
Do I need to create an account?
No. There's no sign-up, email or password. Premium is tied to your Google Play purchase, so restoring it on a new phone just uses the same Google account.
Where are the servers?
The AetherShield server is in Montreal, Canada. You can also connect to your own server using a V2Ray or AetherTLS config.
Is there an iPhone app?
Not yet. An iOS version is in progress. Today AetherShield runs on Android phones, tablets and Android TV.
